Thunderbird 0.8 and hotmail

Hey is is possible to get thunderbird 0.8 to work with hotmail? its such a nice app but I cant get it to work with hotmail

Honestly I'm not sure about running it on the mac, but I have it running on my pc...you need some third party software to actually connect and get the mail...I'm using a program called mr postman...there might be something for the mac that would do the same.

Not quite what you're looking for but you can use httpmail to get get Hotmail working with mail.app.

httpmail will add another account to Mail, it won't replace the account you already have. Both accounts will appear under your inbox.

Oh...My god... This httpmail is the coolest thing EVER. I can't believe I didn't think to look for it. Many thanks, this is AWESOME. Now they just need to make one for gmail

Yeah a httpmail equivalent for gmail would be nice, but in the mean time you could give GMailStatus or GCount a go. They're basically menu bar utilities that tell you the number of unread mail you have in your inbox, not as good as full mail functionality but still pretty useful!
