I just did a migration of Thunderbird 2 from my MacBook Pro (running Leopard) to an older desktop Mac (running Tiger).
Just FYI for anyone else doing this. In a few minutes I was able to get Thunderbird up and running on a second desktop Mac with zero hassle and I did not have to use the terminal command to access the Profile utility. I didn't even need the Profile utility. All my detailed settings for everything were just as I had set them on my laptop.
First I downloaded Thunderbird and double clicked the compressed ".dmg" file. Then I installed it by dragging the "Thunderbird.app" program file to my "Applications" folder. BUT did not open the program.
Then on my laptop (where the first Thunderbird client was set up) I copied my entire "Thunderbird" folder which included two files ("Application Registry" & "profiles.ini") and one folder ("Profiles" with all it's files and folders inside) onto a thumb drive.
Putting the thumb drive in the other desktop Mac I copied the entire "Thunderbird" folder to the same location. That's: users folder/library/. When I opened Thunderbird on the desktop Mac it was identical to my laptop.
All the best,
Chris C.
