Thunderbolt 1.2 firmware update not working

When I update, it restarts my computer. "installing updates" is displayed, then restarts. When it gets to the apple logo with the progress bar, the computer just shuts down. Anyone else having problems with thunderbolt updates?

(MacBook Pro 13" 2011 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, 2.3 i5.)

Plug your system into AC power. The update will not install while it's on battery power.

Wondered why mine did not install and noticed, oh needs to be connected to AC power.
