With the impending delivery of my new macbook air, i am on the hunt for an external disk caddy that runs off of thunderbolt.

I've hunted around the internet (admittedly not for massive amounts of time), and not found anything that fits the bill.

Has anyone else seen one?

www.elgato.com or www.seagate.com

The elgato will be expensive and the Seagate Thunderbolt Go Flex Adapter is $99 but you will need an SSD.

he doesn't necessarily need an SSD, though w/o it he will definitely notice the performance difference compared to his os drive. The 830 256gb paired with the seagate setup wouldn't be too unreasonable and with the current sale would be 450 including drive, adapter, and TB cable. Of course for the same money you could get 6tb of media storage, so it depends what his needs are.
