SO i am trying to find a thunderbolt 2 extension cable for a hard drive. Everything i have tried or located are Mini Display. It will power the drive up but never mount it. Any one have any ideas?

Yes, thunderbolt hubs and docks often get warm.Hi Rusian could you answer my question, do all Thunderbolt docks get very hot mine does as soon as I turn it on? I have more questions about the thunderbolt dock on another post. hope your day is going well

the best analogy I can think of is essentially the dock is acting like a northbridge to interface with pci express [1]
those would run hot too inside PCs (ah the Core 2 Duo days)

I would have thought there would have been a Thunderbolt icon in the system preferences.
No I know how to fo that ,ihave had the Mac for just under 2 years know.
