Anyone have any recommendations on TB3 external drive enclosures? Any format of SSD will do since I'll be buying the drives new.

Have been using the StarTech TB2 mini dual drive SSD enclosure which has been awesome for years, but seems to be causing wake from sleep issues now on my 7,1 Mac Pro it seems like; especially with the TB3->2 adaptor dongle I'd like to do away with.

Seems hard to find ... I found one on OWC, but I've used their stuff in the past and it's been disappointing at best.

Does it need to be external? You could slap a x4 M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x16 card in your MP. It'll be faster than any external solution could hope to achieve via thunderbolt 3.

That being said. The only option I'm aware of besides OWC. Is to do like I said with a card but instead pop it into a Thunderbolt 3 PCIe enclosure. That or get one ready to roll like the HighPoint RocketStor 6661A-NVMe.

Thanks for the reply and the info on the HighPoint. Good option for sure!

I'm debating whether I need it to be external or not. It is nice to be able to move the storage around, as sometimes I use it to quickly transfer files / install apps etc. on another system. Internal would be nice and might simplify everything though.

Hmmm, something to think about. Thanks velocity
