Thunderbolt Cable as Power Cord?

Hello All,

I see that the new Cinema Displays can also supply power to a MacBook that is using it as an external display.

Is it possible to do use an iMac to power a MacBook via a thunderbolt cable?

My setup is such that it would help not to need to plug in my MacBook to an outlet while I have both, the iMac and the MacBook, running side by side.

No, as TB only supplies 10 W, and a 13" MBP has a 60 W power supply, and the 15" and 17" MBPs have 85 W power supplies.

The thunderbolt display has a separate magsafe cable to power a macbook, it doesn't do it through the thunderbolt cable. So the answer is no.
