If I use the TB connection with a Mini Displayport HDMI adaptor so I can connect my MBP to an external monitor, what happens when I want to use the Thunderbolt connection to hookup a hard drive?

however thats only valid if you got a cinema display thunderbolt version. What you can do is to connect the external HD first then connect the display as the last piece of the chain. However I dont know if it would work, in principle it should

Got it.

I have a Dell U2410. I suppose that means that it'd be the last in the chain all the time since it doesn't have a TB port.

Thanks.
