Does anyone else find that the Thunderbolt connector on the MBPr is flakey? If I so much as breath on my connector, my external TB hard drives, monitors, and other peripherals drop. I found the Kanex cables fit a little tighter than Apple cables and put less stress on the connection because they were softer. Still, though using TB devices while the MBPr is on my lap is a non-starter.

Why couldn't they have stuck a magnet in the TB connector like they did for the powermag? If there were some kind of clip that held it on, that would be great. Any suggestions on solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using a mid-2012 MBPr.

If it is that bad then bring it to the Genius Bar. Shoving larger cables in there will only make the problem worse in the future.
