I can't seem to get anything to work with my thunderbolt. I have a OWC thunderbolt 2 dock that seem to have died overnight. (I tried plugging in the power to another wall outlet but there is no lights on it) I decided to use a HDMI to Displayport adapter which worked before I used the dock but now the Monitor won't seem to display anything from the MB Air. I used the HDMI out on the dock for the monitor.

I can't really test anything as I only have the dock as thunderbolt and the DisplayPort adapter but does it sound like the port is dead and I need to take it to apple? would AppleCare apply?

as the president would say, “sad”. thunderbolt 1 and 2 was such wasted potential

Apparently the only thing is dead is the dock since somehow the port started working again.

This is getting annoying now the monitor doesn't work again even though I have tried different DisplayPort adapters HDMI and DVI+I not sure of the brands. It worked for awhile then it stopped working. I have to use a USB VGA adapter for the monitor. Does it seem like I should take it to Apple and have them look at it?

does it work reliably when connectd directly to the screen, apple might say it’s the dock

the dock is dead I have been using an adapter from mini DisplayPort to HDMI which did work but now stopped.

I have AppleCare which expires several months away. How can they check remotely?

This is really weird I now am able to hook up a DisplayPort to VGA cable without using an adapter and it works. I still think I should possibly have it checked. I need this for school and having another monitor is helpful.
