Thunderbolt display and 15 inch retina pro issue

I have a new 15 inch retina macbook pro running mavericks hooked up to a thunderbolt display. For some reason if I have a word doc on the thunderbolt display and click between it and any other window that is opened on the thunderbolt display the word doc it will get kicked back to my macbook pro

It is very annoying and makes the display useless. I can't find any reference to this issue online. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Which 15" model? 750M or Iris Pro only?
Are you running Gfxcardstatus?

Could be mavericks or could be your vid card not handling the double monitor scenario properly. My 750M sometimes causes some strange window issues when using external displays.
