I was wondering if anyone here uses a Thunderbolt display with a non-Thunderbolt iMac or any other non-Thunderbolt iMac. The reason I'm asking is because I have a 2010 iMac and rather than buying a Cinema display, I'd like to purchase a Thunderbolt display so I can use it in the future and have additional features, the main one being able to daisy chain. I don't mind not being able to use any of the features while connected to my iMac as long as it display the image. I don't care if the speakers, usb ports, firewire ports, etc. work as long as the TBD can still display the picture.

So, will the TBD work?

No sorry. It won't work! I wouldn't get the Cinema Display, if you have no plan on upgrading your iMac, I'd say get a Dell monitor instead :)

Hope it helps, good luck!

It's not compatible. A TBD will only work with any 2011 model computer with the exception of the Mac Pro.
