Hi all

I’m tidying up my desk space and was looking for a one cable solution to hook my MBA to my oldish IPS monitor (HDMI).

The cost of a decent dock seems to run to around half the price of an acceptable ultra wide monitor which comes with what looks like a basic range of ports etc built in.

Is it worth chipping in the difference to get the monitor, or do docks bring something more useful to the table?

Thanks

For me portability was important so I went with a USB-C dock that can be used without the Power Delivery pass through if desired. It can act as both a single cable desktop connection or as a portable travel dock.
