I could be wrong but the Seagate cases don't work on 256GB+ , any other options that are in the sub $200 range??
 
You will not have enough power margin to operate currently available 512GB SSD devices with bus power.

While it may appear to work, it will not be reliable, especially under intensive read/write activity.

You can use 512GB devices in self-powered (AC powered) casings like the Little Big Disk. The latest 1TB SSD model has 2each M4 Crucial SSD devices inside.
