Thunderbolt external harddrive questions?

Is it possible to attach an external enclosure harddrive using thunderbolt cable?
If i buy an SSD for my macbook. and use the external harddrive enclosure to hook it up using thunderbolt cable will it work?

Yes, in theory. Problem is that right now, no such devices are available at a reasonable price.

There are no enclosures sold without preinstalled HDDs right now. You can go with a USB or Firewire enclosure.
