Problem is that right now, no such devices are available at a reasonable price. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/mac_accessories/storage?n=thunderbolt&s=topSellers There are no enclosures sold without preinstalled HDDs right now. You can go with a USB or Firewire enclosure.
