OS X Thunderbolt graphics cards

I read a rumor/news that in theory you can attach a graphics card through a Thunderbolt display. I wonder if there are any attempts or intentions from graphic card manufacturers to create such a card for macbook lineup.

Is it possible? Will we see it?

However, you have to buy a GPU and a PSU yourself, so it's an expensive replacement.

Well at $1000 you might as well just buy a separate gaming computer altogether
