Hi,
Does anyone know of any thunderbolt hubs, i simply want 2 thunderbolt ports from the 1 i have on my mid 2011 iMac so that i can plug in a second monitor (using a thunderbolt to hdmi cable) and a thunderbolt external drive.
Is there a cheap way to do this, i have done some googling but can only find hubs such as the belkin which add usb 3 and audio ports etc, i don't need all that just a simple thunderbolt splitter.

thanks

Dan

There are 2 ways to do this cheaply I believe, one would be to use the caldigit dock, the other is a cheaper external drive with passthrough, try the seagate drive or lacie refurbished items

I believe the Caldiget is the only hdmi out device with 2 thunderbolt ports for chaining. The other option would be to replace the thunderbolt disk for another model with 2 ports for daisy chaining.

EDIT: One advantage to getting the Caldiget drive is that it will also add usb 3 ports to your iMac. (That is why I purchased one.)
