Thunderbolt MBP with 27" LED Cinema Display

I've finally dropped some $$$ into a new MBP.

Getting 15" 2.2GHz with high res glossy screen plus the Radeon 6750M. I plan on using it with a 27" LED Cinema Display.

Two questions;
Can the lid be closed on the MBP, and the desktop showing on the 27" ACD in the monitors native res of 2560x1440?

What performance can I expect playing any of Valve's Source based games using above setup? i.e.: Portal, Team Fortress 2 or Half-Life 2.

Any links to credible benchmarks always appreciated.

As to your second question, correct me if i am wrong, from what i understand games like Portal, TF2, HF2, are Graphically demanding but not to the level of games like Call of Duty. Your can probably expect to play on reasonable settings on the external display, don't expect ultra but probably medium to high. I am a bit busy so i cant show you any benchmarks but i am sure someone else will
