Hi fellow applers. Would love to hear anyone who is using their thunderbolt ports on their mac minis. Also if you have used adapters ie. Thunderbolt to USB and or FW. A shame to not be able to use it as there are limited peripherals/appliances available that are thunderbolt. Thank you in advance

I use a TB3 to TB2 adaptor to my TB display and I have a 2TB Thunderbolt external HD, the rest of my TB ports drive USB 3/3.1/3.2 stuff.

I use one tb3 port to run a dual DP adapter for two 4K displays.

I use another for a tb3 m2 ssd enclosure.

another connects a tb3 4 drive enclosure, with a tb2 adapter on the daisy chain port connecting a tb1 dock which in turn has a fw800 raid0 drive and a 5
Bay esata case attached.

One TB3 port is connected to a Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box 650 housing a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 graphics card. The other three ports are connected to external hard drives although only one is frequently used.

The eGPU is occasionally plugged into an Acer Swift 3 ultrabook.

Thank you very much

I’m not sure that this is what you were asking… but this is my 2018 i7 Mini w/32GB

USBc port1 - Satechi Mini Stand w/ 1-USBc, 3-USB3, a sound jack and 2-SD card readers
USBc port2 - DELL 2407FWB monitor 24” w/USBc -> DVI cable
USBc port3 - 1TB Samsung T7
USBc port4 - BENQ EW3270ZL 32” w/USBc -> Display Port cable

USB3 port1 - USB HUB w/ 3 8TB Seagate disks
USB3 port2 - Bluetooth adapter to avoid BT interference

Currently the Satechi USBc port is connected to a 1TB Samsung T5 I’m using to record 2 wildlfe camera RTSP video streams.

It’s actually pretty easy to run out of USBc ports :(

Running an OWC Express 4M2 with 4x 1TB Samsung 970 EVO’s on one Thunderbolt bus.

Other Thunderbolt bus has an OWC Thunderbay 4 mini with 4x Micron 7.6TB SSD’s.

I use the 4M2 for working data, and the Thunderbay 4 mini as storage. Being able to move data between storage and working set at 1.5GB/s nearly constant in both directions plus the effect of spreading the working transactions across four 970 EVO’s has been revolutionary in the amount of processing I can do per week.

2018 Mini.
One is used for a Razor Core X with a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 GPU (migrated from my now retired 2010 Mac Pro). One is used for a OWC ThunderBay 4 Mini, currently with two SSD drives.

All of the other ports on my Mini are also in use, but not for Thunderbolt devices.

"2020" Mini, USB-C to Display Port to my monitor on one and an Anker USB Hub using a USB A to C adapter with a couple of WD My Books/Akai MPC/keyboard/AC Infinity fan/iPhone/whatever plugged in. One of them is gonna host a Sonnet 650 egpu if I ever get off my butt and finally buy it.

Id be using my MOTU interface on one if it didn't cost me $100 just to plug it in so its using one of the USB-A ports. For some reason it stopped showing up when it was plugged into the hub, otherwise it would still be there too.

I'm using two Apple's TB3-TB2 converter to use my previous owned external RAID. Seems to me they work very well and much faster than in previous TB2 nMP6.1 ports. The third TB3 port is going to my eGPU.
