Hello everybody,

got my late 2014 Mini with i7CPU and 16GB RAM, looking to upgrade to a 1TB SSD but now I need a way to run my 3 FW800 drives, is there any adapter to make so I can hook them onto the Thunderbolt port left unused?

Grazie

Thunderbolt 3 to FireWire adapters do not exist since FireWire is so old, but Thunderbolt 2 to FW does. BUT that's one TB to one FW, not three.

You could search for FireWire to USB Adapters. Or you can get an eGPU box with PCI Express (over TB3) and look for a PCI Express to FW Adapter Card and add 4 ports to the eGPU box.

I think the best (and cheapest) option is to get rid of FireWire and put those drives in USB Enclosures or a Thunderbolt DAS.

Free option: Connect the FW drives and share over the network using the old mac.
