Sorry if this has been discussed before but I cannot seem to find it:

Using Mac Mini 2024 M4, Caldigit TS4 hub, Apple Studio display attached to the Mac Mini, 18" generic LCD panels as second monitor attached to the TS4, Satechi Bluetooth (and wired) keyboard, Apple Magic Mouse, Canon flatbed scanner, Crucial external 2tb SSD.

EVERYTHING was fine until a couple of days ago but all of a sudden the keyboard (tried 2 different ones actually...the Satechi and an old Logitech Windows keyboard), and flatbed scanner, no longer work when attached to the TS4. Both of my monitors still work fine, the external SSD usually does but sometimes is not recognized when I reboot.

Everything (keyboards, scanner, SSD) USUALLY work fine when attached to the Mac mini itself but the Satechi keyboard sometimes is not recognized upon reboot.
I've tried different cables, different thunderbolt and/or USB-C ports and nothing seems to make any difference.
The ONE thing that I have changed in the past couple of days was that I upgraded to Sequoia 15.4.1.

Is THIS the culprit?
Are there any known USB-C and/or thunderbolt port problems with this release?

Update:
After turning both the Mac mini and the hub off and unplugging them both for about a half hour, everything seems to have come back to life after turning all back on again.
Apparently a proper reboot may have been all that was needed.

You´re lucky!
I don´t get USB working properly. My audio-interface, my webcam do not work, all hubs do not work. The hub in my monitor does not work, too.
Thats apple in 2025 :)

Yes of course this is MY experience.

Have you ever needed their help. I had 2 experiences with the Genius Bar - it was really creepy. There wasn't a single person who really had anything on it. But they kept saying that Apple Devices never actually have anything like that. You have to explain the simplest things to them. Idiots.

I always make a point of not installing their updates. That would be the only solution. But I didn't read anything about the problems this time either - it wasn't until I got it myself that I knew there were any.

my own experiences with apple support have been great, and i got my macbook repaired some years ago at the genius bar in a couple of hours 👍. calling apple and trying to get help might be more rewarding than not calling and just complaining.

not installing updates is not a solution, it's a decision. updates bring bug fixes, enhancements, improvements... and often, new issues. but it's not black-&-white, and those bug fixes could be useful.

anyway, not sure why your issues are "apple in 2025' (as opposed to, say, apple in 2024, 2023, etc) 🙄
 
Of course, not everyone has had a bad experience - perhaps your next store will also have more qualified staff. Here (Germany) it's a laughing stock. The statement “Apple in 2025” should mean that it was better in the past. The fact that updates would break your system didn't exist in the past. I used to use the beta channel on my production machine myself. I wouldn't be so reckless now. Yes, I am a bit pissed off. I can't stand Apple anymore - I just don't have an alternative that would be better.

hundreds
of posts on this very forum over the last 20 years would disagree. meanwhile, for some of us, the OS is better than ever. my mac is working, stable, and all my apps & needed widgets work. perfect? nah, but worst time ever? not at all....

Okay but it is not important if your system is running. Mine does not and it gets worse every year. This is my reality. Yours might be better. In my agency everyone is working on Apple devices - and we have many problems. As I said - maybe you have more luck, or you use your system in another way, use other apps, other network,... not my business. In my world this company is not what it used to be. And it does not help to say - "but I like it". Its okay that you do that, but how are you helping by saying that?

got it. and again, i understand that you're having issues. and that everyone in your agency is; this still does not speak for appleusers in general, but you know that.

if you do call apple for help, let us know how that goes. could be worth a shot...

Update:

Apparently a proper reboot may have been all that was needed.
Sometimes it’s the hub itself that needs a reboot, by unplugging it from the computer and removing the hub’s power cord.
 
Once again, a simple restart fixes things.

Which is why I shut down my Macs at night and reboot in the morning...
