So today, after six years of solid, trustworthy usage, the left hinge on my TiBook finally snapped off from the display bezel.

I'd heard of TiBook hinges being notorious to failure and now, after inspecting my own break and the other working hinge, I can see why. However, my question is just how common these hinge breaks are and how many of you have experienced, either first hand or from a friend, this kind of failure?

I've repaired one pair of TiBook hinges before and I can tell that mine would need not only new hinge but also a display bezel.

Plus, if I just consign myself to the fact that this machine is six years old and was going to die anyway I can convince myself that I need that MacBook I've been holding out on for the past year and a half.

Its pretty bad..i was working on a friend's computer and as far as I could tell the hinges were fine..then when he picked up the computer he broke one! Flimsy things.
