Tick Tock sound from iMac

In the last two days, I have noticed a tick tock sound coming from my 1 year old imac (intel duo). The sounds occurs every 1.25 seconds cointinuously. There are no other issues with the computer, but want to avoid fatal crash.

Any ideas of what this could be? Last resort is to take to Apple Store and leave for 2 days.

Sound like your HDD is starting to fail. Hope you have a backup plan
