I noticed this today, while connected to WiFi and on a phone call I get a strange ticking sound- it's like a faint click/tick every half second. I turned off my wifi and made a call and the sound is gone.

Note this is on a VZ iPhone, not an At&t iPhone.

Is this a frequent occurrence or a problem with my phone?

EDIT: NEVERMIND. Did some research, this is a very common problem. Will visit the Apple Store for a replacement.

Could you fill us in on the research? I have the same issue, it's getting to be quite an annoyance.

It's apparently an issue with the built in radio and or wifi antenna that causes electrical interference with the phone during a call. It's a pretty common problem.
