I'll be there... but just to pick up my iPad.
and I'll have to remember not to wear jeans and plain black long-sleeve shirt (which I do wear on occasion), because that would just be creepy.
hmmm.. the mall doesn't open till 10am on Saturdays (which seems really late... and frankly will kind of mess up my schedule, as I'd like to get this over with early so I can do other stuff that day). So, is there some special exemption for iPad day? or are people going to line up at some particular mall entrance? Can you get inside the mall hallways before 10am?

Yeah, I'm debating when to go as well. I was thinking of getting breakfast nearby, *denny's* then drop by the store around 7 to see if I should stand in line or not. (Although the mall isn't listed as opening until 10, I would think that it opens early, so the employees can set up their shops each morning.)
Yeah I used to work at Brookstone and the mall opens earlier (people exercising and workers setting up shop). I actually might head over to starbucks and get coffee and by 8am head over to washington square.

Apple Store often available before opening hours
If you check the Washington Square Apple schedule of workshops, you'll see that they often have workshops before their opening hours (like 8:30a - 10a), so I don't think there's going to be any problem getting your iPad at 9 as expected. But if you show up too early, you should expect to stand in line outside before security allows Apple to move the line inside. That was my experience getting my iPhone 3G in July, 2008 at WS.
But this time I opted for Pioneer Place, so that's a new game for me.

I was at Pioneer Place for the past two years during iPhone launches and its CRAZY with long lines... I think they will have a lot more ppl compared to WS and Bridgeport. Good luck!!

So I live in Newberg and do not have a Wifi reserved. I preordered a 3G but decided to save money and get a Wifi instead. What do you guys think the best way to get my hands on one would be?
Go to Wash Square Apple Store or Bridgeport Apple Store? Or maybe one of the Best Buys that have Apple products? I think there's one across from the Wash Square Mall?

I would hedge my bets on an Apple Store over Best Buy, since I expect Apple will have more than 15 non-reserved units. You could try calling some of the Apple Specialists in the area to see if they are on the lucky few list that might have some. You should try and call mall security at both WS and BV to see if they have any procedures in place. I hope by now they've figured out how to be prepared. If they are clueless, you should drive by your chosen location late tonight (like 10 or 11) to see what things look like, and if there's no one there, you're probably fairly safe showing up at 5am. For the iPhone 3G launch in 2008, BV wasn't letting people get there earlier than 5 or 6 (if I remember correctly), whereas WS had no problem with me hanging out starting at 10pm.
Lastly, you could hope for a reserve unit not getting picked up by 3pm, or better yet, you could show up to the line around 8 and find out if anyone reserved more than one, but doesn't plan to purchase both and will instead let you snag one.

Yeah, it looks like the Apple Store will be the way to go. I'll hit up Washington Square Mall. They're going to start helping people without preorders at 10am.

Their is a starbucks in the Cedar Hills mall, near a serve your own frozen yogurt place.... (I tried the pomagranate frozen yogurt, very good.)
Of course, wireless isn't free on the ipad like the iPhone at starbucks, but they do have it in the main courtyard of that mall however....

I'm at the Washington Square Mall. They have the line divided into 3 sections: one in front of the store, one under an atrium, and one behind the atrium off into another wing.
I just heard some employees talking quietly to each other that they have about 70% iPad 2, White, Wi-Fi Only, 16GB, and only about 3-4 each of the other varieties. They were making it sound like not everybody would be getting anything good, unless of course you want a white crappy small iPad.

I camped out at the Bridgeport Apple store from 11am and was the 10th in line. I then went to Washington square around 8pm to check the store out and they had most of the models still in-stock. Talked to my friend who works there and he told me they have a bunch in the back room but will save some for tomorrow.
