Happly playing about with my new powerbook, bought up the dock (normally hidden) and there was no finder icon, let the dock hide again, and there it was... on the desktop!

It doesn't respond to clicks, is always on the top,

Everything else is running as normal

Not come across this before, haven't try'd fixing it yet :)

Go to Activity Monitor and end "dock". It will automatically restart and should be back to normal.

Try'd a few things, ended up logging out and in, mainly to see if it stuck, back to normal now.

Noticed a few little things like that on this powerbook, strange...

I managed to do that once. I panicked and figured the best thing to do was to restart. Did that and everything was back to normal...:)

i was going to say that logging out and then back in would probably be your best bet, OS X isnt perfect and does have its hiccups, but they are usually for the most part rather simple and easy to fix
