tiger installs but does not ask for other discs

I now have the retail version of tiger for power pc. I boot my old G4 with it and begin the install, everything runs fine except the installer doesn't ask for any other discs and then tells me the install is complete. A message comes up telling me that the computer will restart in 30 seconds. when it does it stays on the grey apple screen as if booting normally (no hanging or freezing or panics)
the spinning circle under the grey apple logo keeps spinning but nothing happens.

I'm really stuck, would appreciate some words of wisdom, THANK YOU

Tiger is only one disk, so that's normal. The problem with the spinning, not so much. Try removing any additional RAM you have (you can swap it back and forth to test all the chips), or actually first, just try booting from the disk again and run Disk Utility.

Did you do an Upgrade, Archive and Install, or Erase and Install? If you did the former, try the Archive and Install. It may help, and it's mostly non-destructive so you won't lose your stuff.
