I've been noticing in the past few weeks that Tiger is constantly changing the audio balance settings on my powerbook. I haven't quite figured out what triggers it. Usually it goes wrong after I have logged out or rebooted but I get the impression that just putting the powerbook to sleep and waking it causes it to go wrong, too.

Usually it shifts the balance the to the left a bit, this morning it shifted it almost all the way to the left. I keep having to reset it to the middle through system prefs. Very annoying.

Anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

I'm running the latest version of tiger and I'm up to date with all other system updates.

I've experience this bug under 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3 on my old iMac G3. I've got a Powermac now which doesn't seem to suffer from it yet (touch wood)

It's really odd isn't it.. I've no idea what could be causing it.

found my audio balance set all the way to the left this morning. i am running 10.4.2. weird!
