Tiger Mail app is screwy

I've tried searching, but no results.

Mail is not working at all. When I launch it, the window shows up, but it won't check mail, send or receive, and I can't quit the app. I have to force quit. I looked over the network/mail settings, and everything seems right. it just won't respond. Any suggestions?

trash the preferences.. you may have to reenter your mail info.. backup your mailboxes to be safe.. do this especially if you did an upgrade from Panther.. if you did a clean install.. shouldn't be an issue but try it anyway.

seems that Mail.app is the one causing the most issues in Tiger...

That pesky mail app!
It's about 50% better than in OS 10.3, but that still doesn't make it great!
Good luck with it here's a general procedure:
1. Repair Permissions
2. Trash Prefs.
3. Pull hair out!

EDIT - Have you tried simply leaving it opened, connected for about half an hour or more? sometimes it just needs a bit of time...

Excellent advice, fellas. I just tried what was suggested, and everything has cleared right up. Mail is up and running. Thanks again!
