It's an iMac G3 DV 400 (slot loader, Summer 2000), with 10.4.11. Screen saver comes on at thirty minutes inactivity and it's power saving options are set so the screen turns off after an hour of inactivity and it goes to sleep after three hours inactivity. Hard drive is set to switch off whenever it feels like it.
However I've noticed the computer is willingly ignoring the three hour setting. The cheek of it. Screen saver activates after 30 mins, monitor goes off after an hour, hard drive turns off as and when it feels like it (and back on again, usually for network access I guess or some other dilly dallying around it does). However, it will go to sleep, usually after the two hour mark. Not three hours like it's supposed to.
I'm fairly sure it's done this for years but I've only recently had more time on my hands than I know what to do with so I've actually sat here on my PC while it sits in it's corner humming away to itself. Noticed it went to sleep and it really didn't seem like three hours since I turned it on, so I woke it up again and timed it with my phone's stopwatch and sure enough, it goes lights out at the two hour mark.
I know it's old and needs a sleep more often than the rest of my computers but, I might miss that all important email informing me I'm the next pope if the lazy old ****er is sleeping an hour early. Also it would mean I'd have to get out of my comfy chair to click the mouse to wake it up. As if!
