QUESTION: Is upgrading from Tiger to Leopard "Zippier" and/or is Garageband in iLife 08 "Zippier/faster/stable"

I have Tiger, SR 2.4 Core 2 Duo 17" MBP w/ 4 gigs OWC RAM / 7200 RPM drive

It just doesn't feel that "Zippy". Crazy, I know. Yes, i've repaired permissions, done run Ram tests, trashed the cache, turned off other languages, etc.

I mostly use it for Garageband and Ableton Live.

It takes long to load and DRAGS when I am playing back a track and sampling a loop in real time. What the???

Are the uprgrades worth it?

Sorry.. edited my message. I am still on Tiger, considering moving up.

most of my friends who upgraded to Leopard claim that it feels much snappier than Tiger. Of course, Leopard has its own fair share of compatibility problems and bugs as well. ;)

And if you want to upgrade, Erase & Install usually is the best option, since you start on a clean slate.

Which in a way, really makes you wonder how Apple can release a newer, more resource-demanding OS which is more responsive and snappier than its predecessor, especially when the so-called 'laws of OSes' mandate that more resource intensive = slower.
