when my PB G4 (1.67) was new start-up time to have all ready was about one minute.

now it takes about 3-4 minutes, even though i only have a few applications that "open at login" - skype, isync, opera, firefox, mail, itunes and google desktop.

what could the problem be?

by the way, i use disk warrior for regular maintenance, it isnt a fragmentation-problem.

otherwise the system is rock solid, just that slow start-up ...

Have you just tried disabling those apps from running at login to see what kind of boot times you get?

gave it a try without any app to login at startup. was significantly faster, about as in the beginning.

question therefore: how fast does your machine boost with a handful of apps login in at startup?

my old windoze machine does a quite faster job - but thats about its only advantage.
