Apparantly updated during the night.

New 2 TB at $ 499 and 1 TB gets a price reduction to $ 299.

Why didn't they keep the 500GB one at a lower price? In our country, it gets a whole f**king lot more expensive. It's about $400 a 500GB one. It's a shame, I would have loved one.

Well, you should be able to get a big discount on the 500GB if you still find it.

In the US you can get the 500GB refurb for $179 at Buy.com

The reason why Apple don´t offer the 500GB anymore is because their inventory is almost out of that model. If makes a whole lot more sense to update Timecapsule with a bigger harddrive than ramp up the production of a 500GB that most won´t buy anyway.

PS No need to use the f-word here:mad:

Looks like they may have taken it down, whenever you click 'Buy Now' on Apple.com site you get a 'page not found.'

Why should the 500GB one go down? How about those like me, who have only got a 160GB MacBook Pro, and wouldn't like to have all the wires hanging around from an AirPort Express with a Western Digital connected through USB.

Still cheaper to buy the Airport Extreme (refurbished) at $149 plus a WD 1TB HDD (or something similar) at ~$125 then to buy the TC 1TB at $299.

I don't even know which is better at this point, but a little savings anyway....

I just figured if the 1TB dropped in price, then so would the 500GB - whatever, doesn't matter.

What does matter is the fact that you are doing something (AE + External HDD) that I have heard is impossible.... care to elaborate?!?!

Its not impossible?

I have a 500GB drive hooked up to my airport extreme which I run time machine through?
