time capsule and backing up itunes on an external drive.

I have my gigantic itunes library on an external drive that is connected to my iMac via USB 2.0. So far I have not been able to backup my itunes library via time machine because the program doesn't allow the backup of data that is not on my internal hard-drive. Is there a way to back up data on external drives with time capsule?

on your Time Machine preferences option, is your external hard drive in the Do Not Backup list? Remove it so you can back up the external too.
