I have one of the new 2TB vertical Apple TCs. Plugged into it is a 1TB USB HDD with two partitions. My MBP backs up to it regularly and I have a mapped share on my Windows 7 desktop to one of the USB drive's partitions.

Everything is nice and works...... until suddenly, it doesn't. It seems that sometimes, if my MBP is backing up that my Windows 7 machine loses connection to the TC. Windows Explorer locks up when I try to browse it (or my computer since it returns space on that drive) and if I force a reboot, it just gives me black screen with a cursor. When this happens, I can't even browse the TC from my Mac. Nothing works until I unplug the TC and plug it back in.

Seems to me that my TC gets hung up since neither my Windows 7 PC, my MBP, or my Mac Pro can access it when it's doing this. Power cycling always corrects the issue.

Any ideas?

----------

It's currently flaking out again. My MBP was at about 3gb of 7gb on it's TM backup and the Windows share on my W7 PC stopped showing drive details and I can no longer browse the drive. The share is the USB drive, but I also cannot connect the the main TC drive either.

The MBP is still backing up, however.

When I try to access it from my MP, it tells me:

"<TC Name>" can't be opened because the original item can't be found.

----------

Now that the MBP's TM backup is complete, neither the MBP, MP, or W7 machines can browse either of the TC's drives or the TC itself.

I can ping it from all 3. The MBP is connected to my network wirelessly though the TC.

Very frustrating.
