i have a first Gen time-capsule

my mac doesn't have wifi

i want to connect to it with ethernet and then use the wifi to join a network, when i do this i am losing access to the hard disk over ethernet.

any advice appreciated

Some more pertinent information is required. What OS X, 10.5 or 10.6? And you want your Time Capsule to join an existing network but your iMac to be a wired client of the Time Capsule? What hard disk are you losing access to, the one built into the Time Capsule or an AirPort disk hooked into the Time Capsule's USB port?

os 10.5.8 with all airport utility updates

i can connect to the wifi network but when i do it wont connect to the hard disk from ethernet cable

the disk inside the time capsule (if i switch wifi off it re-appears)
