Time capsule not being a time machine

After setting up my time capsule the only thing that wont work is the time machine. When I try to switch backup disks from my external hd to the time capsule nothing happens. I enter the password for the TC and then it just reverts back to the old drive. I disconnect my ext HD and then try to set it up and it sees the TC but will not allow me to connect to it.

I can see the TC on a windows laptop and access the "server grade" hd. I am probably missing a simple step any help would be appreciated.

"Change Disk" in Time Machine prefs?

Thats what is not working The time capsule is not showing up in my devices or in "change disk"

Figured it out, the time capsule name needs to be short and sweet. I used my last name which is 10 characters long and has an apostrophe for my tc's original name. Now the name is just Vic Time Capsule.

If anyone else has this problem make your TC's name short and sweet and change it in your time capsule settings in Airport utility.

A waisted couple of hours, but no more wires!
