I thought the idea was that the Time Capsule could be separate from the rest of the gear so that the backup wouldn't get stolen along with the computer. But have I misunderstood it? Does it HAVE to be connected to the modem/router through a cable?

I have a Mac Mini which goes online through an ethernet cable plugged into the Linksys Router, which is connected to the aDSL modem. I basically just replaced the old Mac with the new Mini, not even knowing that it came with its own wireless stuff.

So I already have my old wireless network environment, accessed without effort by my HTC phone, my iPod, my printer and even my Samsung TV. But the Time Capsule seems unable to join this network like the other devices.

Can't find any information on this anywhere. Is it at all possible for me to have the TC by itself in the next room? If so how? The TC now has the ip 192.168.1.102, which should be port forwarded in the router.
