Hello

I have a few old Time Capsule, which I haven't used for ages.

Yesterday, I wanted a file from it, but when I plugged it in, there was a bit of a spark (not sure why) and now it won't power on at all. I've tried changing the fuse in the plug, but this hasn't helped. I'm not sure if the problem is with the power in the Time Capsule itself, or the cable.

What are my options here? Can I remove the hard drive and connect it using some sort of cable, or is this too complicated. I know what Apple is like for sealing things together.

The old TCs are notorious for having bad power supplies that will fail. If you really want something off that drive, then you should open it up and take the drive out. Probably a SATA connector on it. Get a USB/SATA adapter and plug the drive into your computer.

Pry it open and take out the drive.
Then use a USB3/SATA docking station to connect it to the Mac or to another router with a USB port.
