What is it with time capsule that I get this swing in signal/ connection ?

My time capsule is on the attic. Nevertheless I am pretty well able to internet downstrairs with my MBA most of the time.
Obviously I want to have a stable and strong signal all of the time.

As replacing the TC one level down is not an option (hate cables) I am looking for a kind of wireless amplifier device for the N signal, midway attic / downstrairs .

Has anyone good advice / suggestions on which device to use ??

It's absolutely possible. The MBA has even crappier wireless than the MBP which in itself is crap, and even if the wireless is decent swings in speeds are possible.

An Airport Express can repeat the network - probably your best choice.

Wildly varying throughput is to be expected with wireless networks. There are so many variables that it’s simply impossible to tell what to expect from one moment to the next. From what I have read, it seems that 5 GHz networks are even funkier than the slower 2.4 GHz variety.
