Time Capsule or AirPort Extreme BS w/ usb drive

I'm wondering if there is any advantage to purchasing a Time Capsule -vs- an Airport Extreme Base Station and adding a usb drive to it. I want to upgrade my router, and it seems that it would be less expensive to purchase an Airport Extreme Base Station and add a drive to it. Are the advantages to the Time Capsule that I'm missing?

The speed is one because external HDD will be capped by USB2.0 interface.

I also remember them doing speed tests between the two and the time capsule has a slight edge in that department.
