Time Capsule or other Display?

So, excuse me for asking (I HAVE searched), but should I buy a Time Capsule for my needs?

It seems incredibly expensive for an external hard drive, but there are awesome wireless router add-ons, right? For the wireless router part, does it go further than a normal Linksys router? Like, does it work like an Airport in that it can make a wired printer a wireless one, etc.

Thanks, in depth explanations would be great.
