Just picked up a Time Capsule 1TB. Read all the reviews about how they run extremely hot and end up causing power supply failure and occasionally hdd failure.

While the design and appearance of the TC is beautiful as most Apple products are, I'm willing to sacrifice some beauty for product longevity. After looking at the rubber boot on the bottom, it seems like that covers a BUNCH of venting holes for heat to escape from the sides as well as the bottom.

I plan on removing the boot and using 'elevators' to raise it about 1" off of where it rests, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this and seen reductions in temperature. I know there are different mod options as far as creating specific fan vents but I don't plan on voiding the warranty and I could simply use adhesive to put the boot on down the road in case it does fail (note: got the Best Buy extended warranty, so not too worried about them knowing what to look for).

Note: I understand heat rises. Just an FYI before you post any replies. Lol.
