I'm trying to set up my time capsule to wirelessly back-up without disrupting the existing wireless internet connection I have set up already since I share it with my tenant who uses a PC. I don't want to give them a password or access to my back ups.

I have a Clear modem connected to a wireless Netgear N-series router and would like to be able to connect my time capsule to it to make automatic backups without making it the airport signal. Is this possible?

thanks!

I'd suggest connecting the TC to the wired network created by the Netgear and setting a password for the shared disk. This should do what you want.

If you made a separate wireless network that doesn't route to the internet, you'd have to manually switch to that network to make your backups (losing the auto feature of Time Machine) and lose internet connectivity during backups. Not good.
