I am trying to wipe an old 400+ GB Time Capsule before giving it to someone else. I selected the Erase option for "Zero Out Data", which was supposed to take 3-4 hours for a 1 TB disk according to a post at http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=10225200

10 hours later, Airport Utility seemed to be stuck halfway on the Secure Erase Status progress bar, saying it was at "secure erase pass 1 of 1". There was a button to cancel the erase, but it didn't seem to work, so I pulled the plug on the TC. When the TC rebooted, it showed the disk space as being mostly available and using only 108 MB on it.

How do I know if the secure erase finished? I tried running the secure erase again, and this time I let it run for >30 hours, but it stayed stuck at the halfway point on the Secure Erase Status bar.

Any thoughts?
