I tried to search for the answer but I couldn't find my exact question.

I just setup a Time Capsule and almost everything is working fine. I can connect WiFi and Ethernet, I can configure the TC but I am confused about what the settings need to be for using it with Time Machine. I don't want to use the drive for anything but Time Machine backups so I have "Enable File Sharing" turned off. The problem is that I can't see the Time Capsule in Time Machine without having "Enable File Sharing" turned on. Do I have to have "Enable File Sharing" turned on for Time Machine to use the TC? If not how do I get TM to see the TC?

Thanks,
Eric

Yes. "Enable file sharing" must be checked, otherwise the drive will not show up over the network as a shared resource for Time Machine (or file access).

Secure the hard drive with a password so that nobody could access it besides yourself, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Also be sure to disable guest access.

That's what I did, i just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Thanks,
