Setting aside the issue of the internal hard drive (I can provide my own), is there any difference in the functionality of TC vs AE with regard to

1. Wireless networking of computers, drives and printers
2. Ability to use Time Machine or other back-up software via airport
3. Wired networking
4. Other benefit over the other (firewall, speed, range, reliability)?

I'm about to buy one or the other and see the extra drive in the TC as a plus for the money but hope I'm not missing some key difference that might make AE a better choice.

TIA for the help.:)

As far as I know, networking capabilities between the two are identical. For sure, both have the same connections (1xWAN, 3xLAN, 1xUSB). The only difference, as I understand it, between an AEBS + HDD vs. TC is that you can back-up only one Mac to an AEBS/HDD combo. TC lets you back-up multiple Macs.

Thanks. Thats a significant difference that helps me confirm my intial impulse to go with Time Capsule.

Is this true? I've never heard this before. I don't see why you'd only be able to backup one Mac - it's a network drive. Time Machine should be able to backup to any network drive, surely?
