How does warranty work with the Apple peripherals and routers?

I'm considering a Time Capsule, along with a new MacBook Air 11, and a rMBP15 when Haswell is released in them. I always get AppleCare with my laptops.

If I buy the Time Capsule now and the MBA in a month or two (with AppleCare), does the AppleCare cover the TC as well?

Or am I better off leaving the TC and buying it at the same time as the MBA?
Or does the AppleCare not cover TC at all?

The AppleCare of your Mac extends to your Time Capsule (so one year as standard, three total if you extend it). The small print say you can get this protection for AirPort base stations purchased within the two years prior to your Mac purchase. Full details here.

I did.
First she said no, you need to buy them together.
Then I referred her to the AppleCare page on their site, after which she said yes you can purchase separately.
Seems like the Apple rep wasn't sure either.

Will need to ask in store before I buy it I guess!

I bought my Timecapsule a month or so before my iMac, and when I was after some telephone support they gave it to me and added the Timecapsule to my iMac AppleCare.

The in store sales people are the last people I would trust. It will be listed in the coverage agreement for AppleCare. You should be able to find that on the Apple support page. That will be the legal and final word.
