I am using my Time Capsule as an extension of my wireless network (Airport Extreme is the main base station connected to my modem). The TC is connected to the network and is operating properly. When I try to backup using Time Machine, I get an error message saying my login or password is incorrect. I have disk sharing set-up to use the Time Capsule password and not a disk password. Prior to this, I used this TC as my primary base station. I did a factory reset, and then changed the TC password when a switched it to an extension of my network. The password is the same as my AE. Is there something I missed? Why isn't it accepting my new password?

Thanks

I'll ask the obvious question: Are you entering the actual password of the TC... or the password of the wireless network that is created by your TC?

I am using the password I set-up for the TC (not the wireless network). I set-up the TC to join my existing wireless network, which includes an Airport Extreme (main base station) and an Airport Express.

The TC was previously used as the main base station, which I had different pass codes for. Are old pass codes erased when a factory reset is performed? Could the TC still be requiring the old pass code (which I don't know).

Have you tried deleting the entries from Keychain Access? Go to your Utilities folder and launch Keychain Access. Select any passwords associated with your Time Capsule and delete them (make sure to have your system password ready). This should clear any conflicts with old passwords.

OK. Figured it out. I just added a user account in Airport Utility instead of using the TC password and created login credentials. I am backing-up OK now. This is probably better I figured this out since I now can add my wife as a second account and have her MPB also back-up to the same TC.
