OK, I have probably the simplest setup imaginable for my TC and home network...

Cable modem -> TC -> wireless network (for a few PBs and iMacs).

I set up the TC out of the box to replace my existing wireless router. Unplugged the modem for a while, let it reboot, set up the TC and powered on. Opened the AP util and configured it. Chose most basic setup options (my provider uses DHCP). WPA password, just like my old network... in fact, everything is just like my old network.

No room to screw anything up, right?

So the TC gets an IP address from the cable modem and my wireless LAN works great... I can read/write from the TC disk, use the printer, get IP addresses from the TC's DHCP server.

Except that I can't get on the internet. Web pages time out. I can ping local addresses (10.0.0.x) and the IP address of the TC that it got from the modem, but nothing else.

I can connect directly through the modem, so my provider isn't the problem.

Any further ideas?

Reboot the modem while it is connected to TC, see if that helps.

Sounds as though you have a static IP assigned from the cable company. Those settings should be applied. It's possible preset is a dynamic IP that can't be assigned.
